Digital Retinal Photography

New Technology

DRT
Ever wonder why your pupils are sometimes red in photographs? It’s the reflection from a layer called the retina in the inside of your eye. Our Canon high-resolution digital camera zooms in on this image and enlarges it so structures like the optic nerve, blood vessels, and macula are all clearly visible in extraordinary detail. Now you can see exactly what the doctor sees inside your eyes. This view is important to your eye examination because many conditions such as High Blood Pressure, Diabetes, and High Cholesterol can cause retinal changes that can be visible in these important retinal photographs. All patients have periodic retinal photographs taken as part of a comprehensive eye examination.
