Dr. Shaffer grew up in Newton, Illinois. He received his B.S. degree from Millikin University in 1968, and graduated from Indiana University School of Optometry in 1972. Prior to joining Plainfield Eye Care in 1976, he served two years as a United States Navy optometrist, and two years as a member of the faculty at Indiana University’s School of Optometry.

Dr. Shaffer specializes in all areas of vision care for children through adults. He has been a member of the Indiana State Board of Optometry and received the governor’s Sagamore of the Wabash Award for his service to optometry in the state of Indiana.

Dr. Shaffer lives with his wife, Jan, in Plainfield and has two grown sons. He enjoys playing golf, skiing, and woodworking.
